The Venice Film Festival. Founded in 1932, it is the world’s oldest international film festival, alongside Cannes and Berlin.
The Venice Music Biennale
Also called the “International Festival of Contemporary Music”, was founded in 1930 and runs annually in September/October. For 2025, the 69th International Festival of Contemporary Music, will take place in Venice from October 11th to October 25th.
The Venice Dance Biennale
Founded in 1999, aka the “International Festival of Contemporary Dance”; it is one of Venice’s main cultural events. For 2025, the 19th International Festival of Contemporary Dance, is scheduled to take place between 17th July to 2nd August.
The Venice Architecture Biennale
The Venice Architecture Biennale founded in 1980, the exhibition takes place every two years, and nowruns from May until November. Also known as the International Architecture Exhibition, it is a relatively new event; first organised in 1980.
The Venice Art Biennale
Also known as the International Art Exhibition and founded in 1895; it takes place every two years and normally runs from April until November.
The Festa del Redentore
A traditional and visually stunning festival in Venice; celebrating deliverance from a 16th C plague and the construction of Palladio’s Church. For 2025, the event will take place on Saturday, July 19th, and Sunday, July 20th.
The Festa della Sensa
It re-enacts aspects of the history of the Republic, its intimate relationship with the Sea and Venetian Rowing practice.
The Vogalonga
It is is one of Venice’s main water festivals, a 32km non-competitive race for rowing boats; in the spirit of historical festivities.
The Regata Storica of Venice
It is an important annual traditional event; featuring an historic water pageant and boat racing competitions.
Scala Contarini del Bovolo
Situated at the courtyard side of the Palazzo Contarini; is Venice’s most impressive and admired spiral staircase.
